Why do my Knees Hurt When I Jog?

Newsletter-Story-Image-6

When jogging, your knee joint takes a force of ~3.6-4.2X your body weight, meaning if you weigh 175lbs there is a force of ~700lbs going through your knee joint with each stride. Therefore, it is very important to have strong muscles to support your knee joints in order to live with pain-free motion and prolong healthy joints.

If you have any type of pain that limits your mobility, please reach out to one of our 5 clinics for an initial evaluation or 15-minute free injury screen to help you get back to living your best life!

What else increases the force on your knee?

  • walking produces a force ~2.5-2.8 X your body weight
  • stair ascent produces a force ~2.8-3.0 X your body weight
  • stair descent produces a force ~3.1-3.5 X your body weight
